The beginning of this series is the first painting Ingelot made after finding out she was pregnant. ‘Shelled Woman’ represents the feeling of carrying a valuable new possession, so new that it feels unfamiliar to the body. The woman pictured floats in water and is tied to a shell and pearl at the same time. A surrounding that’s pictured to feel a bit uncomfortable and idyllic at the same time.

These paintings were made during an Artist in Residency in Bunk and are currently exhibited until the beginning of May. All the paintings are available for purchase and will be delivered/available for pick up after the exhibition.  

Ingelot van der Pol live-painted on the balcony at renovated church Bunk Utrecht 3 days a month, for 3 months. This exposition is an ode to the baby in her belly and the health of her loved ones. Made to celebrate all stages of life, embracing how vulnerable and unpredictable they are.
